Bullfighter Manuel Escribano waves a flag in the Huesca bullring that reads "Sánchez to prison."

Bullfighter Manuel Escribano waved a Spanish flag in the Huesca bullring that read "Sánchez to prison." Escribano received the flag from the public and waved it at Sunday's San Lorenzo Fair , where he fought alongside Antonio Ferrera and David Fandila, El Fandi.
Escribano has issued a statement asserting that he had no political intentions when carrying the flag. "I want to express my absolute and absolute denial that there was any political intention on my part and that I was completely unaware that the flag bore that message."
"I received a Spanish flag from the supporters' clubs as a token of affection, which I never read or realized carried any message," the statement added. "I took it solely because it was the flag of my country, in a moment of emotion and gratitude toward the crowd, with no other purpose or meaning."
"Furthermore, I want to clarify that some reports claim that I carried that flag around the ring, and that 's not true . I only carried it for a few moments before leaving it, without walking around the square with it."
"I firmly reject any attempt to link this gesture to political or ideological positions or to accuse me of wanting to carry and spread the message written on that flag. In my professional career and in my private life, I have never used my profession for political proselytizing or to disrespect anyone, regardless of their beliefs."
The opening speech of the festivitiesThis is the second time that the president of the government has unwittingly starred in the San Lorenzo de Aragón festivities.
During the opening speech last Saturday, part of the crowd chanted insults against the President of the Spanish Government -- "Pedro Sánchez, son of a bitch" -- while the Councilor for Festivals, Nuria Mur, was speaking, and López told her "leave them alone, leave them alone, they're against Pedro Sánchez."
The councilor apologized "to anyone who may have felt offended" by what happened during the opening speech and asserted that "at no time" was it his intention "to encourage confrontation or discredit."
The regional deputy for the Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE), María Rodrigo, has requested that the Minister of Public Works, Housing, Logistics, and Territorial Cohesion of the Government of Aragon, Octavio López, appear at the next plenary session of the Parliament to explain "the lamentable spectacle" he witnessed on the balcony of Huesca City Hall during the opening speech for the San Lorenzo festivities.
In a press conference, Rodrigo noted that Octavio López's intervention from the municipal balcony had been echoed in the national press, criticizing the fact that Mayor Lorena Orduna had not discredited López, but rather "remained silent to this day."
"We hope this doesn't happen again," said the PSOE MP, calling for "more institutional support" for the San Lorenzo festivities. She expressed surprise at "the little value Azcón gives to Huesca." She noted that two years ago, his investiture took place on August 10th, the main day of the San Lorenzo festivities, and now "he's still on vacation."
He also asked the People's Party (PP) to "seriously reflect" because "it is sad and regrettable to use and incite confrontation in the city of Huesca where the Days of Concord are being celebrated, a universal city." He called for a reversal from the mayor, who "should not be excluded from a situation that occurred with her present."
